The Society is one of the largest providers of voluntary social housing projects in Ireland. These take the form of small groupings of houses or apartments strategically placed within local communities to cater for the needs of vulnerable people or older men and women who need supported long-term accommodation.
The Department of the Environment provides 95% of the funding for the projects and the Society covers the balance and sundry costs. All of these schemes are managed by the voluntary members who provide support and a caring service for the occupants.
Here is an example of a SVP social housing project.
