We don’t need to be reminded that times are tough. Through no fault of their own, many Irish people now find themselves at their wits’ end and unable to afford even the bare necessities of life.
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society, long a friend to the poor, now finds itself stretched to the limit as “the new poor” now includes those once seen as its natural benefactors rather than its beneficiaries.
The great news is that we can all help; simply by enjoying ourselves! It’s hard to believe but there really is a “win-win” solution for everyone. By singing and dancing the night away to the greatest hits of Johnny Cash and Cliff Richard we can do something truly wonderful for those less fortunate. Many of you will remember the fantastic “Turn on the Light” concert at Silver Springs in April of this year and how you cheered and applauded and didn’t want it to end, well, SVP hosts another spectacular concert on Friday, November, 18th at that very same venue. This time it’s the turn of Europe’s No 1 “Johnny Cash” tribute, Barry Winters and Cork’s very own “Cliff Richard” and Showband legend, Declan Ryan with Shindig to prove that great music never goes out of fashion. For good measure, Dervla Burke of Crystal Swing is the special guest on the night and brings glamour and youthful talent to this rollercoaster event.
