The Music on the Hill concerts will start up again this year with the first being held on Friday 26 March 2010 at 8 pm in St. Mary and All Saints Church in Glanmire. The City of Cork Male Voice Choir, which is the leading TTBB choir in the south of Ireland, will perform. It is an amateur choir of over 50 members and has had many successes in competitions.
The choir has also held many concerts over the years, including notably at London's Royal Albert Hall along with other international choirs in 'A night of a Thousand Voices'. They have also performed in operas and toured widely including Germany, North Wales, Prague, Barcelona and marching in the 2004 New York St. Patrick's Day parade. Their repertoire includes ecclesiastical, opera and modern classics and they will be performing a mix of these in Glanmire.
Entrance to the concert is by donation with proceeds going to Christian Aid for their work in Haiti and to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Cork. Prior to the concert Andrew Coleman of Christian Aid will present a power point update on Christian Aid's work in Haiti and their response to the recent earthquake. Music on the Hill is thrilled to be hosting the City of Cork Male voice choir and hope that the Glanmire community give great support to the charity fundraising concert.
