Spring Fashion Show in aid of New Resource Centre, Friday 17th Feb @ 8pm, Carrigtwohill Community Centre
Tickets €5 available in Vincent’s Shop in Carrigtwohill. Tickets limited
All proceeds will be used to help with the new resource centre. Clothes are all donated. This is to show that you don’t have to go and buy new expense clothes you can get them at an affordable price. All clothes on the night are available in the shop to buy the following day.
The models on the night are mostly customers and volunteers and include young children from the afterschool, Transition Year students and older people. Not only will this fashion show raise much needed funds for the new resource centre being built but is aimed to bring a growing multi-cultural community together so many of the models on the night come from many parts of the world such as Jamaica, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Poland to mention but a few.
The Family Resource Centre is a very important part of the rapidly expanding Carrigtwohill village and serves an important function as a listening post in the community and is in daily contact with the issues of the local people who call to seek information on various problems or to use the services of “VINCENT’S” Charity shop. It also has a role in referring people seeking direct assistance from the Society or who may require the support of a more specialised social or other service.
It relies very much on the efforts of its volunteers for the daily workings of the shop, and for organising and networking for fundraising events like this fashion shows and cookery demonstrations. The need for a new Family Resource Centre has also to be seen in the context of the significant social and other changes which have occurred in the community in recent years.
So please come along and support this very worthwhile cause.
