Thanks to a benevolent gesture from a group of Catenian brothers a brand new wheelchair has been provided for use at St Vincent De Paul’s Kerdiffstown Holiday Home in Naas.
The big hearted gift, paid for through a collection made by 12 members of the Catholic organisation, was presented to SVP at its Dublin Regional Headquarters on 25 November.
The generous donation was made on behalf of the Catenians’ Dublin Circle by Sean Ryan who lives in Terenure, Dublin and Pat D’Arcy from Kilmacanogue in Co Wicklow.
The men explained that every year they donate a wheelchair to a different organisation ranging from hospitals to charities and this year they selected SVP as the lucky recipient.
“There is always a need for wheelchairs and it’s something we started over 20 years ago. It doesn’t take a lot of time to organise but the donation does a lot of good for a person who needs it,” Sean said.
Pat added that each year the organisation gives tremendous thought to which charity or health facility the wheelchair will be donated to. It is a gift that is always gratefully welcomed given that it can make a vast difference to the lives of those with mobility problems, he said.
President of St Corban’s Conference Margaret Clarke will ensure the top quality wheelchair is put to good use at Kerdiffstown.
