A draw was held in the Workman's Club in Dublin in aid of SVP during Damien Dempsey's sold out gigs in December with the first prize being an amazing photograph. The picture was donated by Bob Dixon of Bob Dixon Photography which was a signed and commissioned portrait of Damien Dempsey. Damien Dempsey’s team allowed the SVP to sell raffle tickets at each of his three sold out shows at the Workman’s club Dec 21-23 and the tickets were drawn after the show with Owen Purcell winning the amazing photograph. The monies raised went to the St. Peters Conference in Phibspborough.
“I'd just like to say that my wife Catriona and I are big fans of Damien Dempsey, as are our kids, Grainne, Brian and Seamus, so needless to say when I arrived home with this wonderful prize there was great excitement all round! Catriona and I were very willing supporters of the fund raising raffle for SVP on the night, but never imagined ourselves as the winners, so we feel very blessed and are very grateful” said Owen Purcell, the proud winner of first prize.
“Thanks to all at SVP, thanks to Bob Dixon Photography for donating such an amazing prize, thanks to Karl & Karen of The Workman’s Club, and of course thanks to Damien Dempsey for all the times shared” he further added.
May good fortune be with you all in 2012, and as Damo wrote on the picture frame,
"Keep singing all your cares away, mo chara, slàinte."
