About Us

Mary Sheridan, North-West Regional President

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the North West has over 600 members all of whom offer tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalised involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, but all our work with people in need involve home visitation. An essential precept of the Society's work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served.

Our members are approached weekly by individuals and families seeking advice on how to deal with a wide range of problems from utility bills to food to loan repayments.  Members are acutely aware of the stress people area under when they approach SVP and members do all they can to maintain the dignity of those who seek help.  SVP does what it can to ensure the individuals are treated with respect and not preached to.
