Improving Services Through Better Communication
The quality of visitation to those in need is being improved and more effective communication methods being developed, particularly with relevance to reaching out to those who have not previously had to go approach the SVP for help. Local radio advertising, posters and public leaflets giving SVP contact numbers are being made available.
The use of mobile phones for Conferences, the parish-based unit of the Society, is also being developed. These numbers are used on posters or flyers to highlight the presence of the SVP.
One Conference, in Tipperary, has worked in conjunction with a Transition Year school group to produce a list of old people living alone in their area. Fifty names resulted, some of them new to the Society.
From Regional President Eamon Corbett:
Improving the appearance and quality of service in SVP shops is also being undertaken, to provide the best possible response to those who use this service.
