There are so many demands for help being made to the Society of St.Vincent de Paul at present, that the response of members is being severely tested The Society has developed a programme “From the Ground Up,” indicating how its work arises from ordinary people themselves, who face their own problems, but are committed to helping others.

The work of a national project team, called “From the Ground Up,” was outlined to the leaders of the Society at a national conference in Dublin by Cliodhna Sheridan.

She outlined how the Society has prepared itself to respond to the increasing needs.

“Our members have trained and readied themselves for the challenges which are now being faced. These are a very heavy pressure on our members, but we are responding and we provide a safety net for people in need who have somewhere to turn to where they know that they will get help and will be responded to in a confidential, caring way.”
