 Mairead Bushnell, National President

The National President of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul has urged the Government to recognise that people are the vital part of any economy.

Mairead Bushnell said that the concentration and focus of the Government, by financial commentators and of the media was constantly on the economy and, while national financial problems were of major concern, people must not be forgotten.

Writing in the Spring edition of the Society's quarterly national journal of social concern, The Ozanam Bulletin, she said the SVP was re-evaluating and renewing its services to people in need of help and would do everything possible to bring them assistance. But there must be more focus on the problems of the ordinary people by the Government, because it was people, families and individuals, who mattered most.

You can hear the Podcast of the National President of the SVP expressing her opinions.
