SVP has expressed concern that the increase in on-line gambling and the use of free bets as incentives to encourage people to gamble may have a harmful effect on vulnerable people, particularly those on low incomes.

The Society has told the Department of Justice, Equality and Law reform  that gambling promotions which target young people and those on low incomes should be restricted or eliminated, and that the industry itself should provide funds to tackle problem gambling.
