Using the local community centre as a base, the SVP runs a drop-in centre. They started by doing up houses for elderly people and then provided laundry and shower facilities for older people who need that extra bit of assistance with these kinds of facilities.
They get great support from the local community and get funding from the Health Board for some of the services they provide to over 70 people on a regular basis. They also work closely with the district home help service and visit families or individuals that might need a helping hand.
Transport is one of the biggest expenses as the population is quite scattered in this rural area, but they still manage to bring people together for social outings. Local musicians give their services free for the social evenings.
