ABOUT US
In the South East the first Conference of Saint Vincent de Paul was established in the Waterford City Cathedral Parish St Otternan in 1846. SVP is the largest charitable organisation helping those in need in the South East Region. The South East Region has 90 activities with over 750 volunteer members. The core work of the SVP is assisting families in need, listed below is a summary of the works that are provided in the South East:
- Home visitation, providing financial & practical help
- Educational support from Primary through to Third level students
- Caring for the homeless men in Waterford City and Wexford hostels
- Hospital visitation.
- Providing Childcare in St Josephs Waterford
- Fundraising through 9 shops situated through out the region
- Providing sheltered housing for the elderly & families who border homeless
- Holiday Centre Carne Wexford
Through SVP services are dependent on the generosity of the public, the SVP raises funding for this work by Church Gate collections, through flag days, from bequests received in Wills and other generous donations. The SVP provides assistance to those in need, helping to provide food, fuel and direct financial support as well as giving help in other ways
