Fundraising Policy
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland always strives to ensure that its fundraising is done as professionally and transparently as possible. For this reason SVP fully supports the Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising developed by ICTR on behalf of the charitable sector.
This Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising has been drawn up in the context of the publication of The Charities Act 2009, which proposes that the operational and administrative aspects of fundraising will be regulated by agreed Codes of Practice developed with the sector.
The purpose of these principles is to promote good practice in the operational aspects of charitable fundraising and to aid in the effective regulation of the charitable sector through Codes of Practice.
In the coming months SVP will be working to establish our own Donor Charter in our commitment to comply with the Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising.
Some of the key aspects in our commitment to these principles will be to report on our compliance to the Statement and to use this compliance as part of our considerations for Fundraising Planning and Budget preparation.
We will also be working to ensure that relevant staff and volunteers:
- have received information on the Statement
- have received information on the current legal requirements in relation to Garda permits (for collections in public places)
- have received information on Data Protection regulation
- have received information on the Advertising Standards Authority regulation
- have received information on the Code of Conduct on Images and Messages
We will also work towards an accessible Feedback and Complaints procedure and to ensuring our financial statements and our Annual Report have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2009 and the forthcoming Regulations to be made by the Minister.
