My Personal Message

Orla:

I was asked by a friend of mine if I would be interested in helping to raise funds for Ozanam House by participating in their Come Dancing Fundraiser. I live very close to the North inner city where SVP do their great work and I am well aware of the tough challenges the children in this deprived area face. I work for a company called Global Vision as a retinal photographer and grader to detect a disease called Diabetic Retinopathy which can cause blindness in people with Diabetes. I have zero dance experience but I am always wanting and willing to try new things and I have no problem making a show of myself, so if I can raise money for a very worthy cause at the same time, even better. I hope to learn to stay upright in heels and if I could get some sort of rhythm into me that would be fantastic. I don't fancy my chances though, I'm the clumsiest woman I know, but if nothing else, I should provide some entertainment :-).

Declan:

I work in Independent News and Media. Unfortunately I have no dance experience and I have 2 left feet but I am up for the challenge. I have 2 colleagues who participated last year and they had a great experience and they convinced me to take up the challenge. I hope I contribute on a laughter scale as well as helping fund the Summer Camp in 2019 for a great cause. My biggest fear is that I will let my beautiful partner Orla down.

Ozanam Come Dancing 2019

Date: 08 March 2019

Ozanam Come Dancing is the BIG annual fundraiser in aid of Ozanam House Resource Centre, a community centre operated by SVP in Dublin 1. This year, 12 couples have volunteered to take on the challenge. The show will take place on Friday 8th March at 7.30pm in Liberty Hall, Dublin 1 and will be hosted by television presenter and fashion designer, Brendan Courtney. Brendan will be assisted by our guest celebrity judges including former Dancing with the Stars ‘Star’ Katherine Lynch. This year, with your help, we will engage 280 children and young people from the north inner city on our summer projects in June, July and August. At this challenging time of the year for so many families in our community and with your support, we will give them a memorable experience in a safe, nurturing, yet fun-filled environment. Please support our volunteer dancers involved our BIG annual fundraiser, Ozanam Come Dancing.
