    The purpose of this post is to assist the cook in preparation of food and in maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen ensuring the scheme conforms to cleanliness standards.  In addition, when required to help with the cleaning and maintenance of Monastery Hostel, Carlow and to ensure that the building is kept clean and maintained to a high standard.
     
    The ideal candidates will possess the following;

    • A good general standard of education is required for this position
    • Relevant educational/academic qualifications an advantage.
    • To have an understanding of basic health and safety issues
    • A satisfactory knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the post.
    • To be aware of the standards expected to be met within a kitchen
    • A satisfactory standard of the technical and managerial knowledge and understanding required to perform the duties of the post.
    • Previous satisfactory experience in a similar role or organisation an advantage.
    • Active listening skills
    • To respond in a warm and compassionate manner while retaining professional boundaries
    • Non-judgemental attitude
    • Ability to work as part of a team and with volunteers
    • The ability to work within professional boundaries
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written are essential
    • The ability to work on own initiative
    • To have excellent record keeping skills
    • To be able to manage a budget
    • Proficient IT skills including MS Word and experience with a database
