Why We Are Asking for Gift Vouchers?
This year, through our Gift of Choice Appeal, we are focusing on providing gift vouchers to the families and individuals supported by SVP.
We know that every parent wants to make Christmas special for their children. Just like any family, parents supported by SVP want the joy of choosing the perfect present, preparing a special Christmas meal, and creating happy memories for those they love. By providing gift vouchers rather than pre-selected gifts or hampers, we can help make this possible.
Gift vouchers give families something very important: choice, dignity and independence. Rather than someone else deciding what a child might like for Christmas, parents can choose the toys, games, books or gifts that have been eagerly written on Christmas lists and letters to Santa. They can buy the jumper their child needs, the special treat for Christmas dinner, or the winter coat that has been put off for months because other household bills had to come first.
What Should I Think About When Buying a Voucher?
When choosing a voucher, we encourage you to think about your own family's Christmas preparations.
Consider where you shop and what you buy during the festive season:
- The toy shops where you choose Christmas presents for children.
- The clothing stores where you buy warm winter clothes or something special for Christmas Day.
- The supermarkets where you purchase ingredients for Christmas dinner and festive treats.
- The retailers that help make Christmas feel special for your family.
When selecting a voucher, consider choosing retailers that offer a wide range of products and are accessible in local communities. Flexibility can make a huge difference, allowing families to decide whether the priority is toys, food, clothing, household essentials or a combination of these.
How to Donate a Voucher?
We are pleased to partner with Me2You, an Irish-owned voucher company. Through Me2You, you can purchase from a wide range of retailers and choose the location where you would like your voucher to be distributed.
By supporting the Gift of Choice Appeal, you are not simply giving a voucher. You are giving a parent the opportunity to choose, a child the excitement of receiving a gift they truly wanted, and a family the chance to enjoy Christmas with dignity, independence and hope.
