SVP Submission to the CRU on the Detailed Design of the Gas PAYG Meter System Replacement Project
The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) is in the process of developing a plan to replace the current Gas PAYG Meter system. SVP has previously provided feedback on high-level proposals for this plan, and in this submission, we build on this feedback to provide input on the detailed design of the replacement project. We welcome many aspects of the Detailed Design, particularly the flexible support it makes possible for customers. SVP recommends that the CRU provides clear communication and customer education to ensure that vulnerable customers, including those in energy poverty, understand the new system and are confident using it. Our recommendations focus on the development of a system that empowers customers and facilitates their independence and dignity.
