Shops

St Vincent de Paul, Dun Laoghaire St Vincent de Paul, Dun Laoghaire

Our SVP shops, which are almost nationwide, are a very important aspect of the service SVP provides. For many years the Society has provided people in need with new and second-hand clothing. Initially this activity was organised from spare rooms, but over the last ten years the Society has established retail units nationwide to provide a more efficient service.

The shops are managed by small number of professional, a large voluntary force and by community employment trainees. The profits generated by the shops, some of which also supply furniture, are recycled into local conferences to support those in need.

Our shops are the 'public face' of SVP in the community and through them we can ensure that customers have access to high quality used goods at low prices.
Local SVP Conferences provide people with Gift Tokens for clothing and furniture, and they can use these in any of their local regional shops and pick out what they need. This gives people more dignity; they are not labeled as 'charity cases'.
