    The Society of St Vincent de Paul is a Christian voluntary organisation committed to offering support, friendship, promoting self-sufficiency and working for social justice.
     
    The Sunshine Fund is a unique branch of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul which provides week-long Summer holidays from May to August for children, aged 7 to 10, from disadvantaged parts of Dublin, Meath, Wicklow and Kildare.
     
    The Sunshine Fund requires Night Shift Attendants for the 2020 holiday season. The Night Shift Attendant has joint responsibility for providing supervision during the night and responding to the needs of any children who wake by liaising with the Head Volunteer on the week.
     

    The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    • A good standard of education.
    • FETAC Level 5 (or higher) childcare qualification.
    • Experience working or volunteering with children, experience with children aged between 7 – 10 years old in particular is an advantage.
    • Understanding of the needs of children who are away from home.
    • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
    • Understanding of child-centered practice.
    • Has a clear understanding of the SVP, it’s ethos and values.
    • Understands the staff/volunteer dynamic.
    • Effective interpersonal and communications skills.
    • Ability to problem solve and have good judgement and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative where required.
    • Ability to relate to and care for vulnerable children and demonstrate genuine respect for them, their parents and families.
    • Ability to complete paperwork as necessary for incidents /accidents/child protection concerns, etc.
    • Enthusiastic, flexible and energetic person.
    • Ability to comply fully with the Sunshine Fund and SVP policy and procedures.
