Living in Limbo: Homeless Young People's Paths to Housing report launches

New research on youth homelessness in Ireland was launched this morning by Former President Mary McAleese, offering a significant insight into the constraints and barriers that young people face as they navigate a route to housing.

Dr Paula Mayock and Sarah Parker's (School of Social Work and Social Policy, TCD) newly-published book 'Living in Limbo: Homeless Young People’s Path to Housing' details findings from Phase 2 of a longitudinal study of young people experiencing homelessness. This study - which 'tracks' young people and their family members over time - marks a critical contribution to our understanding of youth homelessness in Ireland today.
The research followed 40 young people’s journey over a two-year period in order to examine the factors and experiences that impact their housing trajectory and transition over time. Five housing and homeless organisation came together to fund the research – St Vincent de Paul, Focus Ireland, Simon Community, Threshold, Peter McVerry Trust.
