SVP seeks new volunteers in Cork

Volunteer Information event

The past few years have been a real challenge for volunteer based organisations. This is something SVP has felt the impact of keenly. The organisation has been overwhelmed with the generosity and financial support from the public over the past three years. However the restrictions associated with Covid has taken its toll on membership numbers. Now SVP seeks new volunteers in Cork to rebuild its volunteer base in the area to continue the work the Society has carried out in Ireland since 1844.

Volunteer roles

The Society has volunteer roles in the areas of:

  • IT,
  • finance,
  • fundraising,
  • housing,
  • retail,
  • education bursary,
  • project management,
  • training,
  • logistics,
  • driving,
  • clothes sorting and preparation for sale and

SVP welcomes people of all ages, genders and from all faiths and none. SVP welcome volunteers who do not speak English or Irish as their first language to help their work with some of Cork’s newest residents.

SVP seeks new volunteers in Cork

This wonderful charity, that is dedicated to supporting those in need in our communities, while tackling the root cause of poverty and fighting for social justice for those whose voice is not heard. SVP seeks new volunteers in Cork to give your time, talents and experience to be the difference in other people’s lives. Volunteers only need empathy, an open mind and an open heart, training will be given for everything else.

SVP helps in a wide variety of ways. Within the organisation there is an opportunity for everyone who would like to volunteer to put their talents and experience to good use.

Within the greater Cork area calls for assistance to the Regional office during the last twelve months increased by of 20% to 16,500. SVP volunteers looked after 1400 families every month with up to 5000 families helped in the pre Christmas period.
