In 2022 St Joseph’s Childcare Centre, re-named Yellow Brick Road Childcare Centre celebrated 25 years of service.
In the past the centre was run as St Joseph’s Boys Club. People of a certain age will remember youth discos that took place in the 1970s. In 1997 the centre operated as a home work club. It was then handed over to the current Board by St Joseph’s Boys Club in 2003.
The Centre operates under the guidance of a voluntary Board of Management. The Board secured funding to convert it to a full-day childcare facility.
In 2020 the centre was renamed The Yellow Brick Road as it straddles the areas of Lower Yellow Road and Ballybricken.
At St Joseph’s Childcare Centre/Yellow Brick Road we provide high quality service that promotes individual growth and holistic development for children aged between 5 months-12 years. Children are seen as individuals and are presented with opportunities through play to reach their full potential. Children are active learners in an environment that is nurturing and inclusive through choice, positive self-esteem and confidence.
The centre participates with AIM SUPPORT and BETTERSTART services.
Aim Support meet the needs of each individual child through personalised and practical supports within a ECCE setting that does not require a formal diagnosis of disability.
Set up by the DCYA (Department of Children and Youth affairs) the Better Start approach supports quality across all childcare services in Ireland. They provide onsite mentoring to offer services on how to implement Siolta (quality) and Aistear (the early Childhood Curriculum Framework) into our every day practice.
