The Role:
We are currently looking to recruit a Homework Club Co-Ordinator (Permanent Part Time; 20 hours per week - Monday to Thursday [2.30pm-6.30pm]) to join our Children & Family team in Croí na Gaillimhe Resource Centre, Galway. The post holder will have responsibility for coordinating and developing a community based homework club suitable for the needs of primary and secondary school children living in Direct Provision Hostels and including the involvement of parents. Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required
Education
• Childcare Degree
• Family Support Qualification
• FETAC Level 6/5 Childcare desirable
Experience
• Experience in working in a community development setting.
• Experience of delivering homework classes
• Experience of working with family’s and groups and delivering projects.
• Understanding and valuing of diversity
• Willingness and capacity to work as part of a team
• Good communication skills and competency in English
Skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills together with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Motivated, Enthusiastic and High energy.
• Flexible approach required in order to deal with wide range of varied tasks
• First Aid
• Children First Training
Knowledge
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations e.g. Childcare Act and Children First
• Knowledge of Safeguarding measures which should be put in place.
• Knowledge of afterschool settings.
• Knowledge of Homework Classes
