Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council visits Vincent’s to celebrate second hand September

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Chair Cllr Errol Thompson visited the local Vincent’s at Killyclogher in celebration of Second Hand September. 
 
Vincent’s Killyclogher is one of 33 St Vincent de Paul shops across the country which provides new and lightly worn clothing at affordable prices, as well as providing an income for the Society which is used to support those in need in the local community.
 
Commenting on his visit to Vincent’s Killyclogher, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said; “Like many charities, the local conferences of the St Vincent de Paul Society, have done so much to alleviate the stress that many in our community are currently experiencing. Through the Vincent’s shops both in Killycogher and in Omagh, not only is much needed revenue being raised to support the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society, but they are also servicing a very real need in the community for good quality goods at very affordable prices. I am delighted to visit Vincent’s in Killyclogher today to show my support for the work of the local conference of St Vincent de Paul.”
 
Speaking about the visit by Cllr Thompson, Brendan McKernan, Chair of SVP Retail Committee, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to Vincent’s Killyclogher to see firsthand the valuable work of our shop in serving the local community.
 
“We were grateful that Cllr Thompson took time from his busy schedule to meet with our shop staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring Vincent’s back to life safely after lockdown.
 
“During Second Hand September we are urging people to dig deep into their wardrobes and donate their unwanted clothing, as well as visiting their local Vincent’s to browse the treasures we have in store.”
 
There are 33 Vincent’s shops in Northern Ireland and a total of 227 in Republic of Ireland, making it the largest charity retailer on the island. The profits generated from the charity shops are recycled into local Conferences to support those in need.
