Kieran Stafford

Kieran is a member of his conference of St Peter & Paul’s in Clonmel, Co Tipperary since 2001. He is married with two girls one of whom is President of her youth Conference in Mary Immaculate College Limerick. He was South East regional twinning officer before becoming Regional President in 2007 and was appointed National Vice President in May 2013. He is currently National President of SVP Ireland.

    Economic recovery? – Not for the most vulnerable in our society
    The previous year has been filled with headlines of continuing economic recovery and falling unemployment figures. In stark contrast with this however, are the continuing rise of those who are homeless, spiralling rents, and increasing costs of education at all levels.

    “Why are the Government not doing more to ensure that everyone has a home?” by Kieran Stafford
    I was recently asked to give a talk to 4th class girls at a local Primary school on Ireland’s homeless crisis. The current situation is of such a concern that even 10- and 11-year-old school children want to know why it is happening. One bright young child asked me, “Why are the Government not doing more to ensure that everyone has a home?” That question has been asked by so many but I would guess not by a child of such young age, and that question strikes straight to the heart of the homeless crisis.
